Coming up on October 5th and 6th: it’s our 10th annual Cemetery Walk!
To celebrate we are revisiting ten of our Curator’s favourite stories, six on Saturday October 5th and four on Sunday October 6th. If you have not attended before, missed some early walks, or want to refresh on some of the amazing stories we’ve shared at past walks, this is the event for you!
- Saturday stories: David Jones, L.P. Sutcliffe, L.S. McGill, Margaret Warner, Dr. Vere Agnew, 1933: A Very Bad Year
- Sunday stories: Duncan McRae, J.R. McIntyre, Emily McLaughlin, Henry Massey Seaton
This is a free event! Donations in support of Museum events and activities are greatly appreciated.
The walk begins at 11am each day at the Smithers Municipal Cemetery, 1958 Dominion Street.
Please remember to dress for the weather, and be prepared for uneven or wet ground. Dogs unfortunately not invited (cemetery rule). Please note that there are no washrooms on site.
Never attended before? Here’s what you can expect: Our cemetery walk runs for approximately 1-1.5 hours, and features an introduction to the history of our cemetery, followed by the life stories of 4-5 individuals. We stand in one place for about 8-10 minutes per story.
