Our July 1st downtown history walk returns for 2024! This year’s walk focuses on the history of some of the many fires on Main Street in the early decades of Smithers history – how they affected the town, and contributed to the development of our fire fighting services.
Walk itinerary:
- Meet at the Smithers Fire Hall from 9:45-10am for a presentation by Smithers Fire Rescue
- The walk will then begin from the BV Museum at 10am and will run for approximately 1.5 hours.
This is a FREE event! Donations in support of this and other museum activities and events are welcome.
We encourage all participants to bring bottled water, wear comfortable walking shoes, and to dress for the weather. Leashed dog friends are welcome!
Please note that in the event of considerable rainfall the event may be cancelled. If this occurs, a message will be posted on the Museum’s Facebook page on the day of the walk and signage will be posted at the museum.
