The BVM is excited to welcome SFU PhD candidate Laura Termes to Smithers! Laura is a researcher with the BC Megafauna Project at SFU, and her PhD is focused on the lives of ice age mammals from the province.

In 2020-2021 Laura worked with the BVM to organize the radiocarbon dating of our mammoth rib bone. That study was the motivation to develop the broader “Babine Lake MAMMOTH” exhibition on display in the museum until the end of January.

Join us at the Old Church at 7pm on the evening of Wednesday January 10th for a presentation by Laura about her research on the megafauna of British Columbia, and the mammoths that lived in this area. Admission is free!
