2018 is shaping up to be a somewhat off-beat year for the Museum so far! In January the Museum closed its exhibit galleries while we completed an overhaul of our museum storage areas. Brand new mobile shelving units were installed in both the Museum’s artifact and archival storage spaces, increasing our available storage capacity (stay tuned for a full post about that project coming soon!).
In February the Museum has also been forced to close its exhibits for 3 more weeks while building maintenance is completed. While our exhibits are closed, our offices remain open for Old Church bookings and other administration, Monday to Friday 9am-5pm. Staff are using the time to complete data entry related to the storage project, and to work on our 2018 upcoming exhibit The Spanish Flu in Smithers.
We’re aiming to reopen our doors the week of March 5th, depending on how the maintenance work goes, and are looking forward to welcoming the public to an open house event to showcase the newly improved artifact and archival storage. Stay tuned!
